My story
My journey into roofing began with a powerful opportunity that set me on a path of resilience and dedication. At 15, while attending Aspire Academy in Harlow, Essex—a school supporting young people with specialized learning needs—I met Jonathan from Contour Roofing. He had come to speak about careers in roofing and the apprenticeship pathway, and I knew immediately this was the chance I’d been waiting for. My story was later featured in Your Harlow newspaper, where Jonathan shared how he saw my determination from the start.
Having lost my father to cancer a few years earlier, I’d faced difficult times, especially at school. But that presentation sparked something in me—I wanted to build something solid with my life. Jonathan recognized my eagerness and helped me bridge the gap while I waited to become old enough to start an apprenticeship. With permission from the school, I passed an extensive list of training courses, including; CITB Site Safety Plus, Harness Training, Abrasive Wheels, Asbestos Awareness, H&S Awareness, Manual Handling, Paslode Nail Gun Training, and Working at Heights.
At 16, I officially became an apprentice with Contour Roofing and was proud to be the first on the team to earn a Level 3 First Aid certification. These early achievements, fueled by hard work and mentorship, marked the beginning of my journey in roofing. Today, I’m committed to delivering the highest quality work for my clients, built on a foundation of grit, dedication, and a passion for craftsmanship.
